Lift your eyes // 12.4.15

“But you, O Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”

Psalm 3:3

Although I find joy in expressing myself through beauty and fashion, I also believe there’s a great importance to discuss more serious, meaningful topics as well.

Evil in today’s world

Even from the beginning of time, evil has been evident, there’s no denying it. Take the story of Adam and Eve for example. But, do you ever sit on your couch, watching the news, and wonder if there’s more evil in the world now in comparison to a decade ago?

Hmm well that is the question.

Whatever the answer may be; whether our generation is simply more in-tune to violent acts because of main-stream media and quick communication, or if there really was less evil during our parents’ and grandparents’ eras, we need to turn our weapons towards the evil one.

I know how easy it is, on an everyday basis, to get frustrated or pass judgement on others’ who seem to be blinded to things that are so one-dimensional; like giving respect  where respect is due. And of course, it is easy to scoff at the person’s stupidity, but what we should really be doing is blaming the devil for rearing his ugly head in a fellow man’s life. Know what I mean?

So instead of getting into arguments with people who will never see things the same as you, or letting anger turn to hate for people who are controlled by evil (and many times oblivious to it), let’s shift our focus to the good fight: the fight for love and truth, equipped with the armor of God. Let’s speak truth to the spiritually blinded, so that they may one day experience the love that God has in store for them; let’s lift our eyes.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

Ephesians 6:10-13

Even in our modern day not-so-hopeful looking society, I want to tell you that we are promised faith and Joy in Christ alone. Even through the terrorism (yes, there is no denying that it is terrorism), abortions, twisted ideologies and overall evil of our new-age world, there is one name above all names and above all humanly power who promises protection and calamity: Christ.

Psalm 32:6 says…

“You are my hiding place;

you will protect me from trouble

and surround me with songs of deliverance.”

& Psalm 33:20-22 reassures us…

“We wait in hope for the Lord;he is our help and our shield.

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”

God is always there for you; through everything, all you have to do is lift your eyes. 💛

Love all. Love Madeline.
