Vapour Beauty product review.

                 thphoto 3

I don’t know about you guys, but lately I’ve been on a complete natural and organic kick. not so much the things that I’ve been putting into my body (which is bad..), but rather the  substances I’ve been experimenting with on the outside. I absolutely love having the opportunity to try out various new beauty products, with the hope of finding a holy grail item once every blue moon. that being said, I think it’s time for another makeup review.

a brand that has recently snuck it’s way into my makeup routine is Vapour Beatuy. I love everything about their philosophy, ingredients and products. Vapour keeps everything from their foundations down to their nail polish pure and safe to use, containing no harmful chemicals. they also support no animal testing, save the bunnies! and their beauty creations are always made in the USA (a HUGE plus in my book). along with all of these wonderful qualities, the company manages to concoct magnificent makeup, filled with high pigmentation and smooth application. since I thoroughly adore Vapour, I would compare their quality to that of MAC and Tarte.

Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss:

Everything about the elixir gloss is delightful. the applicator used is one of my favorites, with a small brush head perfect for that precise lip line. the formula is not sticky whatsoever, but the slightest bit runny (still manageable though). it stays looking fabulous for multiple hours and keeps your lips hydrated with it’s moisture-lock technology. I did not see an extreme difference regarding the plumping aspect, but it was just enough for me since I already have larger lips.

the color I received was in flirt, which I am head-over-heels for. it supplies a simple enhancement to your natural lip color, my favorite type of nude. all in all, I found it is an amazing product that I would have no problem repurchasing and I can’t wait to try more colors.

along with everything I just mentioned, if you buy the elixir plumping lip gloss in honor 100% of the proceeds will go towards breast cancer research. this company is outstanding, I love how they support good causes.

Siren Lipstick:
when I first encountered the lipstick I was gifted I was a bit skeptical of the darkness of the shade. only since I don’t normally wear deep tones, I tend to keep it more natural. once I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and give the lip color a try I absolutely fell in love with it and began wearing it almost daily.
a great quality the lipstick holds is it’s buildableness (or however you would say that). I started with one layer, and when I felt that wasn’t the darkness I wanted for the day, I built it up to my liking until I reached the color in the stick. it makes it very versatile and appropriate for both a more formal look or an everyday casual one.

Magnetic is a beautiful color for the fall and winter if you are looking for a bold lip. it won me over, despite the fact that I rarely wear dark lipstick.
the only (partial) downside to this makeup product is that it slightly sinks into fine lines and creases in the lips. no, it is not drying in any way, shape or form; even coming from me who possesses extremely dry lips. just tends to accentuate some divots.
I entirely enjoyed this product, no doubt.

and one of the best traits of the lipstick is if you purchase it in courage 30% of the proceeds will go directly to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund; another reason to indulge in Vapour Beauty products.

Vernissage 3-Free Nail Lacquer:

looking at the website, I realize the 3-Free polish is not sold anymore, instead they have made it 5-Free which to me doesn’t seem any different. maybe just an enhanced formula is all, but I’m not sure.

however, I think this product is spectacular. I’ve repainted my nails with it twice already and each time it grows on me more and more. it glides on smooth like butter, it is very opaque (I only needed two coats for a perfect shade), it has a very nice sheen and it lasts for nearly a week (even on me, who is constantly doing rough work with my hands).

the packaging is sleek and classic, something I look for in my collection since nowadays it’s hard to find simplicity. you can definitely tell the nail polish is well-made from it’s heaviness and design.

I have been wearing the color Mischief, which, sadly, is not sold any longer on their website. it is a perfect purplish-gray shade, unlike any I’ve ever owned before. I adore it for the colder months of the year, but I could also see myself wearing it in every season. this lacquer is probably my favorite product I was gifted, and I cannot wait to stock up on multiple colors.

a grunge ootd.

today I opted for a simple grunge style that I thought went well with my new corn rows. the outfit was comfortable, yet fashionable, and something you wouldn’t see everyday. I liked how it included both plaid and ripped jeans for an edgy vibe.
I don’t usually wear much jewelry, but wearing this faux ivory earthy necklace brought me straight back to Hawaii (wear I’d rather be).
and the best news of all is that the hidden sun finally showed it’s beautiful face today after weeks of thick, encasing fog. it was wonderful.

friends in far-off places.

I can’t express the gratefulness my heart feels when I am granted love, not only from my small community, but from a far away place. my friend who lives in Hawaii was gracious enough to send a hawaiian snacks/candy care package to me in Oregon. it is so special to me since I’m unable to go to my local grocery store and buy the same items. I will shortly be sending her a care package from little old Oregon soon.
share love, from state to state.

feel beautiful.

pretty. what is pretty? If you ask me, it’s the describing adjective you use when you don’t want to fully commit to saying the passionate and meaningful word, beautiful. it only makes sense in my opinion for every individual to not just think of themselves so shallowly as pretty, but instead, as beautiful. that doesn’t mean you have to be the most attractive person alive, but you respect yourself enough to see your beautiful qualities instead of a body made of flaws.
trust me, I know it’s a struggle to not want to pick out everything you don’t like about your face, weight, hair or body. but it’s important to remember that you were made to be an imperfect being. within being flawed, you are still as beautiful as you believe you are. if you spend too much time and effort worrying about your imperfections you’re only tearing yourself down and being unhappy. and I believe beauty comes from happiness. be you, come to love yourself and stop using the word ‘pretty’ as if it means something. be bold and use vocabulary like beautiful to show yourself and others around you that what’s important isn’t only how others perceive you, but how you perceive yourself. love your strong qualities and come to love your weak ones. be different and unchanged by the twisted society we call our generation.
I was feeling beautiful just the other day, why should I feel ashamed? be confident and show your beauty off. don’t hold back. have a light inside you that people are drawn to, not one that turns them away.

“There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.”
– Dr. Steve Maraboli

“Confidence is the only key. I can’t think of any better representation of beauty than someone who is unafraid to be herself.”
– Emma Stone

surprises.

I love surprises. ever since I was very young I have gotten mad at anyone who tries to ruin surprises for me. many children would rather know what the secret is, but I always took joy in the element of surprise.
you must be thinking ‘what do surprises have to do with anything, Maddie’ well to answer your question and tie my rambling together here’s what occurred a few days prior.
on Wednesday I attended school like any normal day. when it was over I got coffee with my cousin and sister. after, when my sister was driving me home, and we approached my house I could see a car that was unfamiliar to me. I thought one of my parents cars might have had to have some work done on it, causing them to drive a rental car home (basically, I didn’t put much thought into it). I removed my bags from the car and made my way to the house. my back door (the primarily used door to our house) opens into the mud room where all of our shoes are stored. I began to take of my shoes when my eyes landed on the shoes off my best friend (who recently moved to panama). you could imagine how fast my brain was trying to process everything.
after my realization I quickly made my way towards the voices I heard in the kitchen. my assumptions had proven correct when I first saw my best friend’s mom and then her.
the time was unforgettable, I was overjoyed with happiness and almost could not believe it was real. I could not help myself from crying.

surprises make life better. especially when many people put time and effort into something for your benefit. I am truly beyond grateful to be reunited with my best friend. God is working in my life.
(here are a few photos from a shoot we did in the beautiful valley and mountainous terrain of a place both me and her call home, Oregon)

a chill day.

on this chilly autumn day I decided to dress comfortable and trendy. I wore a dark grey indie tank top, grey sweater and dark wash cuffed skinny jeans. my favorite part of the outfit are the white, cutout booties with silver buckles (not to mention, they were on a mega deal!!). I like how the booties made the look more up-to-date and chic. I left my hair down and straightened. and for the finishing touch I added staple red lipstick to bring in the festive fall feel.

good company.

last night. Halloween night.
during the daytime I scrambled around trying to find plans for the spooky holiday. when nothing came to mind I resorted to a night spent in my home, watching netflix and eating junk food (every basic girl’s dream).
however, my night was saved when a few good friends of mine invited me and my sister over to their house for a mellow time, homemade food and a bonfire for our entertainment (keep in mind, we live in the Pacific Northwest countryside where large fires are acceptable).
as we sat by the vibrant yellow flames rising well over 5 feet above my head I looked at the different faces of contemplation that surrounded me. each one consumed with their own mind, including myself. and not one of us knowing the others logic, yet all of our thought wondering was rooted from the same picture in front of us; a fire set ablaze.
as the night wore on and the laughter grew, I was overwhelmed with the fact that I am so blessed (once again) to call such wonderful people my friends. seeing the faces of both old and new companions share joy in simple things like sweet candy or corny jokes made my heart happy.
there’s no better feeling than walking away from people who play parts in your life and being able to say the phrase “I love them.” in the most sincere and genuine way.

oversized.

when I woke up, all I wanted to was to stay in bed all day, but sadly, school prevented me from doing so. why not wear a giant, warm, cozy fall sweater instead? I mean, it’s just like staying cuddled up in bed, right? right. so I did. the chunky knit sweater made a nice duo with my straight leg, light wash denim. I wore my tribal printed Toms booties with the outfit. My hair was in a half braided updo. this look gave a warm welcome to fall without telling it to blow it’s coldness full force just yet. you can still be stylish while being warm and comfortable.

topped off.

i paired vintage stripes with a chic, black bodycon skirt. I wore knockoff Doc Martens to dress the look down a bit, and topped of the outfit with a half topknot. my shirt is oversized so I opted for the tied side to give myself more of a silhouette. my school bag is from Flying Tomato, i liked it because it added mixed prints. when I walked out of my room this morning my mom said “how Kardashian of you” which I assume was a compliment. yay. one problem I had was that my hair is so long, my topknot coiled 2 times instead of one, making it stick up taller on the top of my head. but all is well and I enjoyed dressing up a little.

sweet street style.

with this outfit I was going for a laid back look, wearing a beachy muscle tank, tied flannel and cuffed jeans. again I paired this duo with my sky blue converse (which need to be put to rest very soon) and a long statement necklace. I left my hair natural. the apple was a nice touch and it sure tasted delicious so why not include it in my picture, right? right. I could have gone for an even beachier look by wearing light wash jeans instead of dark, but I felt they added more of a chic side. I like how the colors pop in the flannel and sneakers, bringing in Fall, yet still holding the last drops of summer close.
