A Walk in the Woods // 9.27.15

Stand tall in what you believe. Do everything with passion.

Plaid, black and messy ponytails //

As I took each careful step on my voyage up the mountain, I was filled with a deep knowing that I’m on the right path. Not following anyone but my Creator, not changing myself for any reason other than improvement. I am me; different than every other person who has walked this earth; made for a purpose.

… and so are you.

What a beautiful view, what a wonderful life. Am I right?

This pretty place is called Onion Mountian lookout in Southern Oregon, and my oh my, I’ve never been more in love with one single place. Where do you love to spend your time outdoors? Do you prefer mountains or flat lands?

Love all. Love Madeline. xoxo

Down-to-earth Saturday // 9.26.15

Earth tones. Growers Market. Coffee dates.

These are the days I love, the days I look forward to, the days that remind me of my beautiful life.

I was finally given a moment of silence, free from the commotion of non-stop soccer and constant school work. I was able to spend a day with a good friend of mine, sipping coffee that warmed our souls, eating hot donuts and speaking words that illuminated our hearts. There is nothing better than a day off, and this one called for dressing up…

My style is changing with the leaves this time of year. I find myself reaching for earth/neutral tones instead of patterns or bright colors. mad4

This skirt is equipped with large pockets and a belt, perfect for transitioning from summer to fall.

Fallin’ for Autumn

When the weather begins to cool down, leaves start to change from vibrant greens to warm hues of orange and red. Fall is right around the corner, and as much as I’ve tried to hold onto summer, I’m now ready for a change of season.

So many wonderful things come with Fall. Cozy, cute clothes that keep the cold away, hot drinks that warm you from the inside out and traditional scents that remind us all of the holidays.

With is outfit, I decided to pair the maroon jogger-type pants (from old navy) with a dressier button down patterned shirt. I wore converse to finish the look, not drawing any attention away from the clothing. Although the outfit is simple, I really like the dark colors and comfort that it gives.

Edit

What would you girls like to see me blog about next? Thank you always for the constant love and support💜💜

Finding comfort in the uncomfortable.

When was the last time you decided to do more than what is asked of you?

As summer slows to an end, I am suddenly aware of many people (including myself, a lot of the time) that are simply too comfortable in their daily routine. Instead of having passion or excitement for each new phase of life, they boringly walk through each day, oblivious to what makes their hearts happy; what drives them to become a better person.

We, as humans, were never created to live monotonous lives, empty of happiness. We have become comfortable; we look forward to sitting on the couch in the middle of the day or scrolling through instagram and twitter instead of going for a hike. The first way to wake up our lazy generation is to find our passion once again. I know we can do it, it just takes a little faith, and slowly our eyes will be opened to the adventure, beauty, love and miracle our great God always meant for us to enjoy.

The message of salvation that Jesus so kindly gifted us with was never intended to be kept only to Christians, or people who are already saved. If you know that God loves everyone and Jesus is the one way to eternal life, you should proclaim it to anyone and everyone you come to know. Too many people (including myself) choose to speak about our faith with only those who have similar belief systems instead of spreading the love and truth of the bible with those who actually could benefit from the Word.

Mark 2:17 states, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

I know that many times, I choose to speak words of encouragement or grace to the people in my life who I am most comfortable with. However, I have been trying to expand my messages to people who may have never heard what I had to say, who could gain knowledge from my words.

“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
    hear with their ears,
    understand with their hearts

and turn, and I would heal them.’

– Matthew 13:14-15

Do what sets your heart on fire. If you like to make art, let your hands create. If you love to cook, make whatever you feel like. I love to write, therefore, I blog. And I can’t explain how happy soccer makes me, so I play. If you don’t have a favorite pass time, try out multiple activities and when you stumble upon one you like, don’t hesitate to pursue it.

Let’s push ourselves to be the best we can be. I’m no longer content living a life with no adventure, nothing to look forward to, and no people to share in my happiness. I want to be the best person I’m capable of; choose kindness instead of rudeness, positivity over negativity and love in place of hate. I do not want to be comfortable, but I wish to feel uncomfortable in my pursuit of faith and with each new obstacle of life.

I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” – John 12:46

How are you going to challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone? What can you do to be the best you?

Thanks for reading my thoughts. Never forget my gratefulness or you. 💜💜

Room Inspiration // 9.4.15

Last month I took a look around my room, and thought to myself, ‘wow, I need to spice things up in here!’

Do you ever feel like that?

Well, after some internet searching, I found a crafty piece of artwork that caught my eye. I was inspired by a tumblr picture of dangling photographs tied on by strings to a hanging branch, displayed on a wall. The great thing about this wall art is that it’s very inexpensive and extremely easy to make.

I walked out my back door, found a worthy fallen branch, attached my favorite photos to it with earth-toned yarn, and hung it above my bed. Simple as that. It looks modern, and it’s a great way to display some of your favorite moments; whether they be from instagram or off of your camera. branch3

I now feel like my room fits my personality better, and gives me inspiration each time I glance at my decorated wall. I even added a couple bible verses that help remind me to be thankful for every moment in the day.

What inspires you? What diy room decorations would you like to see me post?

Beautifully flawed.

and now she’s fifteen, silently stumbling, learning how to exist in a world full of constant noise.

she grew up.

since she was three years old she impatiently waited for the next greatest thing, day after day. and just like that, her life floated by without her knowledge, the way a wide, desolate pasture slowly becomes a blur, being viewed from the small, square window of a car.

and as her eyes finally flutter open again, after the many years that were lost, she is someone entirely different. even she does not recognize the new face that stares back through the silver-trimmed mirror into her soft, brown eyes.

she is bound by the love of the heavens. her hands no longer tremble as she gracefully writes the delicate words that flow from her heart. instead of seeing the dull light of each day, she is now enamored with each new shade of green, lining the winding northwest backroads as she embarks on her next promising adventure. she is changed. she stands firm in her beliefs and her opinion is unaffected by outsiders’ thoughts.

and as her eyes explore the blue depths of the water before her feet, she sits, watching the last golden sun rays drift off of the shimmering sea, and in that moment, it is more clear to her than anything has ever been in her entire life. she is beautifully flawed. & just like her, the world that she lives in is beautifully flawed.

and now she’s fifteen. with nothing but the future ahead of her, and for the first time in her whole life she feels like the world is hers and no one can take that away from her.

Summertime Favorites // 8.25.15

collection 2

As the end of summer quickly approaches, I am thoughtfully reminded of a few things I couldn’t have made it through without.

The first being Jealous Body Scrub, the best product to keep your glowing, summer skin fresh until the last days of shorts weather. It is packed with high-quality ingredients, like coffee and almond oil, that are free from pollutants that reap havoc on the skin. I absolutely love the smell and philosophy of Jealous, plus it leaves the skin feeling softer than ever.

One of my other favorites would have to be the Super Sizer mascara by Covergirl. With it’s unique brush that appears to be smaller at the base and gets bigger towards the end, it gives my lashes the effect of falsies.

Lately I have been really enjoying special bible verses that correspond to things happening in my life, and I decided to paint a few of my favorite ones with watercolor to hang in my room.

Peppermint essential oil from Young Living is another one of my must haves this time of year. It does a wonderful job of clearing the mind, and making headaches disappear. Since the region that I live in has been very polluted with wildfire smoke, and I have a lot of neck pain, I have been loving the properties of many essential oils that I use in my diffuser.

Those are just a handful of my favorite things for summertime. What are some of yours? I am dying to tryout some new beauty/body/hair products, so if you have any suggestions please let me know.

Thanks for always being the best blog readers to me, Love all. Love Madeline.

Madeline’s favorites

Remember when I said I would be posting somethig very exciting?

Here it is, my current favorites all compacted for your convenience…

pictures: by far one of my favorite activities; photographing pretty places, people or things. the camera shown above is a Fujifilm 33mm film, only thes best.

books: oh how I adore a good read that makes you forget about your worries and real life. above, I have Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, and I’ll be honest, it wasn’t my favorite, well written book, but I was able to get through it and stay somewhat entertained. I honestly only read it because of the movie now out in theaters. I also included Eleanor and Park, one that I only recently started, but have high hopes for. I’m ALWAYS looking for another great book to add to my collection, so please don’t hesitate to add your favorites to the comment section(‘:

music: lately my life has revolved about beautiful sounds and the feelings they give me. hehe. two albums I have been listening to non-stop are twenty one pilots: blurry face and twenty one pilots: vessel. I have also been enjoying Misterwives. But my absolute favorite song of the moment is Alt-j: Breezeblocks. yes I know these songs are not extremely new, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be the best.

writing: my favorite journal with one of my favorite pieces of artwork on it; the tsunami wave. I have used this notebook for nearly four years now, simply writing my thoughts, troubles, praises and prayers in. words written on paper are very important to me; you can always keep them to look back on.

memory book: I love my Chatbook, or small, square book filled with pictures of lasting memories. I decided to name mine The Story pt. I because it symbolizes my life, and hopefully I will add on more and more.

swim suits: I have nothing but good to say about Target’s swim suit selection… they are all beautiful. I picked out this black top with accents of neon straps to go along with my plain black strappy bottoms.

anklets: or as my guy friend called them, “foot bracelets”. mine were originally wrap bracelets, but since I didn’t wear them anymore I decided to repurpose them and I couldn’t be happier with the results. they scream boho summer girl to me and I can’t get enough.

My last three favorites are self explanatory for the most part, I included them because I am currently loving them.

Important message: now that I have discussed all of my favorites with you, it’s your turn to tell me what you’ve been in love with! I want to know whatever your loving, but mostly your favorite music, photos, books and clothing. Tell me in a comment below and I will be picking one lucky winner to receive a special (and personalized) care package sent from yours truly. Yay!

– only open to US and Canada residents

– winner will be chosen by June 27th

– have fun!!

Cheers to the summer.

Summer has finally begun. The weather is warm, school is out, tan lines are emerging, hair is getting lighter… and Madeline is no where to be found on her blog…

Yes, I would like to first apologize and let those of you (who are reading this) know that I appreciate you so very much. Lately I have been enjoying the beginning to my summer a great deal by relaxing, going to the river, sitting by the pool and getting outside. Therefore, I have rudely neglected blogging and I will not live this way anymore.

Now, to give you an update on my life…. I ended school during the first week of June (yes, my school is awesome!). Since then I have been busy climbing a HUGE rock that’s practically in my backyard   I have also sat by the river bank once, and another time I went rafting with some good friends.

So far my summer has been mellow and fun.

On Saturday I leave for my young life summer camp for a one week stay (and I’m happy to say I raised all of the needed funds by myself just in time to leave!!). After I come back from that, I then leave for a three week long family road trip across the entire country in order to visit family back East which should be interesting. ha.

Well now you know my plans for life. I want to know what all of you lovely people are doing for the summer of 2k15?!

That’s all for today, but please stay tuned because in the near future I will be doing a small giveaway and a special summer post! I love you all

Prayers, answered.

I recently went camping in Bend, Oregon. The scenery is killer, the people are outdoorsy and the style is envious.

And let me tell ya, thrift stores in wealthy, sporty cities are treasure troves of beautiful clothing. A lot of beautiful clothing.

So here’s a small story. For only a couple of weeks before the trip I had a  (very weird) yearning for a pair of hiking sandal (like Tevas or Chacos) since summer is quickly approaching. I even asked my mom if she ever spots any at second hand stores, and her reply was simple, “no, they are too valuable”. So, when we get to Bend I see nearly everyone sporting the sandals that I so desperately want.

Now, as we’re on our way out of town, vintage travel trailer in tow, we happen to stop at a Goodwill superstore. And of you’ve ever been to one of those on a lucky day, ahhh you know it’s like you’ve entered heaven. Low and behold my sister finds me a pair of Chaco’s that look barely worn! And they’re my size! It would be easy to say that was the highlight of my trip, but we also went to beautiful places like the Painted Hills, so really the whole voyage was a blessing!

I also managed to find a little boy’s tshirt. Because what teenage girl doesn’t want to look just like a 12 year old boy?

But seriously, I see quite a lot of potential for this small shirt. I’m hoping to cut of the arms and pray I still look like a girl. hah

I picked up this simple nike workout top that looks brand new. And this pair of slouchy boyfriend jeans; something I’ve been wanting for forever (although they are missing a button).

This American Eagle peplum loose shirt isn’t too shabby either.

Aside from the Chacos, I found yet another amazing item.

Yes, I found a new Free People dress. It’s bohemian and flowy and lacy. It’s beautiful. However, I won’t be keeping it, but rather selling it because it doesn’t fit me the way I’d like and someone else would like it much more than me. If you’re interested in buying this cute number from me, here’s a link to my Vinted site where you can view it and a handful of other adorable  things.

Here are a few photos that perfectly captured the beauty of central Oregon…

I hope you enjoyed my small rant filled with excitement and entirely amazing scenery. Thank you for the constant support and endless love. love you all.

Have you been on any adventures lately? Have you found any clothing treasure? Tell me about it

p.s. I’m currently in the process of editing my beauty video or the Pacifica muse contest. Stay tuned to be the one of the first I see it!
